Back on the Mic: A New Quiz to Find Your Communication Gaps Before 2027 and My Black Friday Warning
Y’all, I’m back on the mic! This is my get-back-on-the-horse solo episode, where I catch you up on everything that’s been happening behind the scenes.
First, a quick Black Friday warning. If you’re going to run a sale this year, please don’t slash the price on your signature offer and call it a day. I’m pointing you to one of my back-catalog episodes that walks you through what to think about before you build your Black Friday offer.
Then I’m introducing my brand-new quiz: Is Your Client Experience Actually Sh*tty? It’s 15 multiple-choice questions and takes about three minutes. It shows you exactly where your client journey goes silent, so you know your top priority for your systems going into 2027. Early quiz-takers told me the questions alone sparked new ideas, before they even saw their results.
I also share what’s coming in the Q4 Experience Edit, my 10-day done-with-you group sprint, including the new Offer Scorecard. And there’s a little surprise waiting in your quiz results.
Plus, a sneak peek at tomorrow’s client case study with Kelley from Hidden Path Creative.

Transcript
Hey, y'all.
:Welcome back.
:For those of us in the United States that are excited about yesterday's election
:results, happy post-election day to you.
:I am feeling really hopeful about the emails in my inbox, all of the
:things that I am seeing on Threads, my friends from the UK across the pond.
:You know, I just-- It is a very exciting moment.
:I am gonna be honest, yesterday, on election night, I went to bed at 6:00 p.m.
:because I was feeling very anxious.
:And so, I went to bed.
:I woke up at 9:00 p.m.,
:turned on my computer, looked at the results that had been announced
:thus far, got excited and hopeful at the same time, and then immediately
:closed my laptop and was like, "Nope.
:I'm gonna, I'm gonna see what happens in the morning."
:And then at 3:00 a.m.
:this morning is when I saw the majority of the results.
:There are two elections here in Colorado that are still outstanding for House
:of Representatives that I have a vested interest in seeing the outcome.
:They are not my, um, representative, uh, races, but you know, ones where I would
:like to see the current people gone.
:So I am still holding out for that.
:We might not have those results for a few days.
:Now I wanna say, some of you are probably thinking,
:"Okay Colie, you don't really get political on this podcast."
:Yeah, I don't really do it very often, but I am a very political
:person, and I kind of wanna give you a sneak peek of tomorrow's episode.
:You are gonna be hearing a case study from one of my Experience Edit clients,
:Kelley from Hidden Path Creative.
:Now, in the first part of her episode, we are talking all about how elections happen
:in the state of Colorado, which seems like a very odd topic for me to have when I am
:doing a case study episode, but Kelley is a new transplant to the state of Colorado.
:Um, she actually moved here earlier this year, and so this was
:her first election in Colorado.
:And there are just things that we do differently here than other
:states that some of you may live in.
:Uh, Colorado is a state that, in my opinion, really cares about whether or not
:the people living here actually go vote.
:So they make it stupid fucking simple for every single person to get out
:and vote, whether you do it in person or you do a mail-in ballot, which
:is what I do every single year.
:And so she was just kind of surprised because she had just received her
:blue book, and some of you might not even know what a blue book is.
:So come back to tomorrow's episode, 'cause in addition to hearing how
:she came on the other side of the Experience Edit, I do think that the
:election talk is quite interesting.
:Okay.
:So let's get on to what I want to actually talk to you about today.
:Because for the last month, I have been bombarded nonstop
:by all of the election ads, and in particular, I have really been getting
:it for the Texas races, because my cell phone is still Dallas And I was
:previously a Dallas County registered voter, you know, a couple decades ago.
:And I still get all of the ads, all of the text messages, all
:of the things, even though I no longer vote in the state of Texas.
:But I feel like now I'm gonna go from immediately being bombarded with
:election ads to immediately being bombarded with Black Friday information.
:And so in case you're new around here, I personally hate Black Friday.
:I hate it as a consumer.
:I hate it as a business owner.
:And I want to kind of see if I can stop you before you make the
:biggest mistake that I see service providers make, um, in their journey
:to create a Black Friday sale.
:And that is, if you are going to participate in Black Friday as an
:entrepreneur, please, for the love of everything holy, do not discount
:your signature offer some over-the-top amount and then call it a day.
:That is not how I would approach Black Friday for myself, for any
:of my clients, and so I am pleading with you to be a little bit more
:strategic about what you're offering and how you're offering it if you
:are going to do a Black Friday sale.
:Now, I actually have a couple episodes, um, in the back catalog
:where I have ranted and raved about Black Friday sales in the past.
:And initially, I was going to do a replay, which is when I record a new intro and
:a new outro and I put it on the podcast But I felt a little weird about doing
:that now because the particular episode, 106, that I wanted to share with you is
:a couple years old, and it's mentioning all of these offers that I no longer have.
:And so bringing it in as a replay felt wrong at this point in time,
:but simply sharing the link with you so that you can go listen to it and
:learn about the three things that I want you to think about before you
:create your Black Friday sale for 2026.
:Like, I do think that it's absolutely a good episode for you to listen to.
:I just didn't want to put it as, like, part of this new episode with
:all of those, you know, offers that are no longer anywhere on my website.
:Okay, so that is what I wanted to say about Black Friday.
:You are gonna have that episode.
:I am gonna come back to you next week and check in with you a- as like a part two.
:Like, where's your Black Friday at?
:Are you in?
:Are you out?
:That kind of thing.
:Okay.
:Uh, I haven't talked to you about my brand new quiz on the podcast, and so
:that's what I wanna talk to you about now.
:I have a brand new quiz.
:It's literally called Is Your Client Experience Actually Shitty?
:Yes, that is the name of the quiz.
:And I've had a handful of people take it thus far.
:I have been looking at the results, making sure that the questions that I'm asking
:are clear, but I do have an ask of you.
:Um, Jocelyn of Scale Your Resonance was on the podcast a couple weeks ago,
:and she has kind of pushed me to get at least 100 people to take this quiz,
:and I am very far behind in my goal.
:And so if you are a listener of the podcast and you are not on my email list
:and you have not seen me mention this quiz before, I would absolutely love it
:if you took three minutes out of your day and went to coliejames.com/leak
:and took the quiz.
:Now, I love taking a good quiz.
:I love to see what the results are, and my brain doesn't actually turn off.
:I automatically start thinking about the questions that I was
:asked and how they are probably tied to the results that I got.
:I mean, maybe you don't take a quiz and automatically go, like, ultra
:strategic like I do, but I do think that it's going to be a fun activity
:for you to do, and here's why.
:A couple people who have taken the quiz have already hit reply on their results
:email and told me how interesting it was to take the quiz, because not only
:did they feel like the results gave them their top priority for making changes
:for their systems going into 2027, they said that the questions themselves,
:the way that I'm asking you what you are currently doing in your client
:experience, brought up ideas for them.
:So me simply asking you when you send somebody an offer,
:how does the follow-up happen?
:And I'm saying, do you contact them automatically with a set
:number of follow-up emails?
:Do you do it when you think about it?
:Do you never follow up?
:Like, I'm asking you these things.
:It makes you really think about the way that you're doing it now and
:how much you could improve it going forward with just a few tweaks.
:Okay, so one more time.
:It's gonna take you about three minutes.
:It is a 15-question quiz, and they are all multiple choice.
:And I really did try to design it where you read the question and
:then you go with your gut reaction.
:Like, don't overthink it.
:Um, and you're gonna get results that tell you how shitty your client experience is
:based on the things that are currently missing from your client experience
:or places where you have gone silent.
:Yes, this quiz heavily looks at your communication gaps inside of your client
:journey because you guys know at this point that is what I am most passionate
:about, and eliminating communication gaps inside of your client journey is the
:best, fastest way to raise your client experience to five stars, without a doubt.
:Okay, so again, one more time, coliejames.com/leak.
:Okay, so I've already told you I hate Black Friday, and I very rarely
:run a Black Friday sale that has anything to do with my services,
:and this year is no exception.
:I am currently in an active marketing campaign for The Experience Edit because
:the new group sprint is around the corner.
:Yes, the week after Black Friday is when the Q4 Experience Edit
:kicks off on November 30th.
:This is my 10-day done with you sprint, and in this format, it
:will be you and nine friends.
:We get together, we have six office hours over two weeks.
:You get immediate access to my trainings and my proprietary tools
:inside of the Systems Professor app, which help you grade your offer.
:Yes, this is new.
:There is an offer scorecard now, which is the first step inside The Experience
:Edit to make sure that the offer that you are mapping for your client
:journey is profitable, sustainable, and enjoyable for you to deliver.
:I care about this for each and every one of you because nothing makes my
:heart hurt more than to see you guys build systems around a shitty offer.
:So in case you haven't heard my four step Order of Operations
:framework, it is Check It to make sure that the offer is profitable,
:sustainable, and enjoyable to run.
:Map It, which is where we map your entire client journey from inquiry
:to delivery to make sure that you are eliminating all of the communication gaps.
:Then it's Build It, where you actually create the assets, the automations, the
:workflows to run your five-star client experience from inquiry to delivery.
:And then finally, there's the Test It phase, where you will go through
:your entire client experience, and then I will do the same.
:Now inside of The Experience Edit, we do the first two phases of my
:Order of Operations framework, which is Check It and Build It.
:You also walk away with your entire client communication library written, ready to
:implement in the tool of your choice.
:And so if you are interested in joining me for the sprint, once again,
:the next group sprint is happening November 30th through December 11th.
:Four spots have already been taken, so there are six left.
:Now, you might be like, "Okay, Colie, this is lovely, but why are you
:telling me this if you're not gonna offer it as a Black Friday sale?"
:I am not doing a Black Friday sale on the Experience Edit, but what I have done is
:put an offer inside of your quiz results.
:So if you are interested in doing an Experience Edit with me and you want
:to do it with a cohort of friends, go back to coliejames.com/leak,
:take my quiz, and there is a nice surprise in there in terms of an offer.
:I mean, if I was gonna do a Black Friday sale, it would probably be close to what
:I've offered you in your quiz results.
:But that's just a nice little cherry on top to go take the quiz if you are
:interested in doing an Experience Edit.
:All right.
:So that's all I've got for you today.
:This is kind of like, uh, Colie's gonna get on here and just talk for a
:while about all the things that have been happening in the last few weeks.
:And the reason I'm doing it is because I haven't recorded a solo episode
:in weeks, and so this is my kind of get back on the horse moment.
:Um, you will be hearing additional solo episodes from me for the rest of
:November that I am super excited about.
:So once again, happy post-election day for everyone.
:If you are interested in taking that Is Your Client Experience Actually
:Shitty quiz, go to coliejames.com/leak.
:And then finally, if you are interested in working with me in 2026 to get
:prepared for your systems glow up in 2027, um, go to coliejames.com/experience,
:but also make sure that you take the quiz.
:All right.
:That's it for this episode.
:See you next time.
